Home of the Jungle League
New York Football Giants

This site is dedicated to the Jungle League Giants. It may not have a "flashy" design, like the Raven home page, but the Giant organization isn't a "flash" in the pan organization. This is your basic blue collar site, which matches the proud NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANT tradition.

The first page contains notes of recent Giant games, and league events. Page 2 contains the roster, schedule, and standings and Page 3 lists the stats. Page 4 lists related links and check out the new Page 5...PHOTOS OF NEW YORK GIANT GAME ACTION.

Follow the Big Blue as they pound their way into the playoffs- playing a tough brand of football. In the Land of the Giants, Defense means something.

Season One ends with Super Bowl Loss
Season Two ready to kick-off

The run ended abruptly, but what a run it was....coming into the playoffs underappreciated and overlooked, the Giants almost became the first Jungle League Champion. A talented Patriot team, however, beat the G-Men in the inaugural Super Bowl and were crowned champions. The Giants rode the wave of the Big Blue Wrecking Crew Defense, shutting out the Bucs in the wildcard round, and the Vikings in the NFC Championship game. Tucked between those two games was an exciting victory over the NFC favorite Rams. The 17-14 win gave the G-men some credibility and confidence. The title hopes came to a crushing end when, with a 7 zip lead and 1 minute to go before the half, two costly turnovers propelled the Patriots into a lead they would not give up. Still, the Giants had a successful season, met their goals, and plan on getting back to the big show.

The defense of their NFC Crown begins this week versus the Bills and their Canadian ownership. All eyes will be on the revamped offensive line and the explosive thunder and lightning combination of R.Dayne and T.Barber. The addition of TE S.Alexander, and the continual improvement of A.Toomer, I.Hilliard and R.Dixon should give the Giants a more multi-faceted look than they had last year. The defense, though aging, is still a force to be reckoned with. The loss of retired D.Green should be ably filled by Tiki's brother, Ronde Barber, and young OLB B.Short will replace the released C.Slade. The Giants brought in several new cornerbacks in an attempt to fill the Dime look. While that area has been somewhat satisfactory in the preseason games, it will be an area that needs to be addressed if the Giants hope to get back to the big show.

Teams to watch out for in the NFC include the Rams and 49ers in the west; The NFC Central; and the tough Eagles and Cowboys in the East. The Saints are much revamped and they could be a surprise team. This page predicts the Eagles, 49ers and Rams to be the teams to beat in the NFC. The AFC also consists of some very tough teams. The Patriots should make another Super Bowl run, but the pick here is the Ravens to earn the AFC nod. The Browns, Jets, Steelers, Chargers and Cheifs could be surprise teams to earn playoff spots.

Predictions:

AFC Division Winners: Patriots, Ravens, Broncos
AFC Wildcard Winners: Seahawks, Jaguars, Chiefs
NFC Division Winners: Eagles, Vikings, Rams
NFC Wildcard Winners: Bucs, Cowboys, 49ers
AFC Championship: Ravens over Patriots
NFC Championship: Rams over Eagles
Super Bowl: Ravens over Rams

GIANT NEWS AND NOTES
A great, great year has come and gone for the G-MEN, but season II will soon be here. As the Off-season begins, the Giants will be looking to shore up some weak areas, and make another run at the Super Bowl. Some transactions have already occurred. Though high on the rookie CB Will Allen and his speed, the Giants moved Allen along with MLB M.Jones to the Bucaneers and in turn, acquired CB Ronde Barber. Barber will be a great fit and is happy to be united with brother Tiki. TE Pete Mitchell and CB Ronald Brown were also traded to the Redskins for TE Shaun Alexander. Alexander is a good run blocker and will start, giving the Giants a little better production from that position. The Giants pulled the trigger on a 3rd trade, acquiring LG M.Dixon from the Miami Dolphins for up and coming RT L.Petitgout and RT C.Slaughter. Dixon will solidify a tough Giant offensive line, and while Petitgout is a future star, the Giants need to win now. A final trade was made with the Cardinals, making Center M.Grattadauria the latest addition. D.Ziegler, C.Jones and D.Farmer were sent to the Cardinals, and Giant fans will see a much better offensive line this season. Farmer's future was bright, but his contract made him expendable. Jones was a reliable back-up, but the Giants should be able to replace him druing the free agent period.

Some off-season transactions have also ocurred, as the Giants trimmed the roster down in an effort to meet their needs during the upcoming free agent signing period. Cut so far were QB A.Wright, OLB C.Slade, C B.Williams, and TE R.Davis. Slade had a great playoff run but his age and salary forced the move. Wright was a good fit for the Giants, but there may be better talent available. The retirement of D.Green and M.Anderson also left some holes.

While these players are on the roster and were picked up via free agency, look for final decisions to be made in the next couple of weeks. Added to the offensive team were QB's T.Dilfer and J.Booty, RB D.Parker, WR T.Simmons, C J.Pyne. Kicker P.Styoyanovich was lured away from the Browns, and the defense added CB's T.Carter, R.Bailey, A.Porter, SS A.Hatcher, DE J.Williams and OLB A.Aldridge. Thus far, only Dilfer and Pyne are sure bets to stick with the G-Men. Stay Tuned.
